Montblanc Heritage 1912 - Census

Recommended Posts

Hello to everyone,

The purpose of this topic is to run a census for knowing of how many forum members currently own the MB Heritage 1912.

I acquired one 3 months ago and I use it every day, in my opinion one of the best MB ever produced and I am just curious to know how many of you own one!

Thanks!

While I love the design, in my opinion it is quite a fragile pen. I've owned it just over a year and it is with Montblanc for the second time now for repairs.

May I ask how so? Had mine for 4 years now with no issues

I have one. It is my only Montblanc fountain pen, as every time I look at a potential new one, they seem not as good! I will succumb one day. A Martele, Firenze or Moon Pearl...maybe...

It is a fine which I ground to a fine italic cursive nib.

Another with two, thinking about a third.

So for the moment I counted 11 owners including myself.

Is that it? I am sure we can do better!

Feel free to include pictures!

The first time I snapped off the threading from the inner barrel while twisting the cap on, and I thought I was being gentle. They fixed that but accused me of dropping the pen and charged me a level one service. I was very upfront with them about what I'd done and how it happened and did not appreciate their accusation. Fortunately what was at the time my local boutique waived the charge for me.

It's now back with them for something that was 100% my fault. I paused while writing and set the pen down on my desk at work without retracting the nib, the pen rolled off the desk and bent the nib when it hit the floor. I was able to straighten it out that it wrote, but it was still noticeable. I sent it in and am having a nib swab done from the fine that it came with to an OBB.

I'll be happy to post pictures once I receive it back. Likely sometime in August or September at this point.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
