Hello everybody.....i am Melania from Italy....I am a chemistry teacher in high school and my obsessions are: pens, paper, stationery, leather goods and my creative hobbies.

I can't upload a pic of my profile.

Maybe i'll be able soon :)

I am very happy to be here and to share my passion for fountains opens that i have been loving since i was a little girl.

Now i leave you a pic of my 2 beloved aurora.....

Sofia and Lapislazzuli (YES I do name the pens....completely crazy)

Welcome home. Pull up a stump and set a spell. You need to add a catalyst and allow IIRC seven days for the add profile picture reaction to take place.

Welcome !

Give the system a few days to adapt to your newness. You will be able add to your profile.

Naming one's fountain pen is only crazy in another forum. Here, it is normal. Although "Sophia" is a silly name for a fountain pen. :lticaptd: Which fountain pen is named Sophia ? Shall I guess the color of the other pen ? Although some avoid buying fountain pens that have been engraved with a name, I like them. I am saved the chore of naming the pen, if it is pre-named.

Hello Melania and welcome to FPN, from Cape Town (South Africa).

To sit at one's table on a sunny morning, with four clear hours of uninterruptible security, plenty of nice white paper, and a [fountain] pen - that is true happiness!

Hi.....:D

Sofia is the yellow Aurora 88 with flex nib and it has no name written on but i called it Sofia in honour to my love kitten, named Sofia.....

I have three kittens Elvis Chloe and Sofia....and because sofia is truly beautiful I named the Aurora after her. Yes i am completely crazy :D

But these pens have the name because, with Aurora my collection really has had a growing point.

They are really wonderful and they deserved to be different form all the other pens :D

Thanks to evrybody for welcoming me....

It's incredible...we are from all over the world :D

BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

I went 4 times to USA, travelled a lot around Europe and went on honeymoon in Japan, this february :D

Wonderful....

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
