Week #25 / 18 Jun: We Have Your Inks - 2017 Weekly Ink Project

Recommended Posts

This week should be fun! Pick an ink you’d write ransom notes with. Thanks to bone215 for the idea.

As usual, don't forget to share with us your choice of ink, your writing, drawing, doodling or anything with the ink in this thread. You can take a photo, make a scan, or even better, write letters and CRV reviews (what is a CRV?) and mail them to the many ink pals here. You are welcome to check back on this thread even when we've gone past this week.

Click here to read more about this community project. Links to the two previous links can be found there too.

Ransom notes are dangerous and dangerous people write them. Therefore I chose Noodler's The heart of darkness written with a Noodler's Charlie pen - this specimen of the Charlie pen is a really wicked one.

Mr Lgsoltek - while everything you say sounds dangerous, the inks you used don't make me shake my fists in anger. These particular hues aren't among my favorites but they don't make me clench my teeth. I'll make it easier for the cruel ones among you - if you want to hurt my eyes use cyano-turquise (CdA Caribbean Blue, Diamine Marine / Soft Minthe) ;)

visvamitra went with the cruelty aspect. I was going for the attention getting / sense of loss aspect. ;)

Dear Vis, I didn't go that extreme because those colours are my nemesis also and I don't own any of them of course.

 this thread is hilarious! LG trying to squeeze Vis for inks using all the colours the other party doesn't like :)))))

Best one yet!

That is HILARIOUS! I had to show it to the guy sitting by me at the car dealership just now (inspection turned into a brake job and brake fluid replacement) because I was laughing so hard....

I'm hoping to get back on track with the IotW themes soon. But technology has decided to throw a monkey wrench into the works -- tried to install the software for the new scanner and got a popup window saying the "certificate" has expired.... And of course that was at 10 PM last night. So I have to wait till I get home (and I have to run errands after I get out of Honda, and one of the places I need to go is down the road from a major-ish flash flooding occurrence from yesterday...) and then call Epson and say "WTH? Did I buy a scanner that really DID 'fall off the back of a truck' after all?"

I would never handwrite my ransom notes, but if I did, I'd use Quink or Montblanc Royal Blue. Under no circumstances would I use a Noodler's, KWZI, Robert Oster or Blackstone ink. (The batches are way too small and identifiable.)

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
