Ambitious Nibs.

Hello does anybody know anyone who sells these and ships abroad. I bought a Ranga 3 with an Ambitious fine nib and, while the gold finish is not that great, it is the smoothest writing nib I have. I would like to order spares!

You probably want to reach out to member mehandiratta, he has done group buys for ambitious nibs in 2015 and 2016.

Otherwise, try to ask Ranga, or maybe Asapens.in. Some of the pens I got from Asa had Ambitious nibs in them. You're right that they're very nice nibs. (I got some by joining Mehandiratta's group buy.)

I wish there were a place where I can buy these nibs also. I have a few spares from the last group buy, but my supply is dwindling as I have received new pens.

I will follow up on your advice. My Ranga eyedropper sadly came with a Wality spare and I don't rate Wality nibs at all sadly.

I've been able to fit JoWo #6 nibs (Goulet Pens branding) into my Ranga Duofold ED pen - which is a very similar configuration to the Model 3. A bit more expensive than an Ambitious nib, I know, but it may just do the trick for you. Or you could try a #6 / #35 nib from fprevolutionusa.com - I'm not sure if these come from Ambitious, Kanwrite or another Indian nib manufacturer, and I can't vouch for them personally (the #5.5 nibs are great), but I've heard good reports about them.

Don't forget about the Kanwrite ebonite feeds. I would also love some of those. Also, does Kanwrite make #8 or 40mm sized nibs?

I'm in for ebonite feeds; But not very hopeful that Kanwrite will offer feeds. I tried to approach them on multiple occasions but no positive response.

what size of Kanwrite nibs will fit a Ranga 3 eyedropper? Would I need to change the feed too?

Based on my experience with Ambitious nibs, I'd say the 35mm would fit and probably no need to change the feed. A 40mm (if it exists) might also fit, no experience with the #3 but I have put an Ambitious 40mm in my Ranga Zeal and I think the inner diameter of the section is about the size of the #3's. Worth a try?

Matteob, the 35mm will fit fine, but the 40mm may not have enough clearance within the cap to be fitted to the pen. I have also fitted a waterman emblem pen #18 nib to my model 3 with no issues.

Sounds good to me. That Ambitious fine though is a revelation. It is as smooth as butter and yet no baby bottom issues even though it looks a bit rough with a dull gold plate.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
