Help Me Decide Please About Nib\feeder Tune Necessity

Recently I bought Montblanc Legrand UNICEF fountain pen with fine nib in local boutique. At home during scan nib by microscop i saw that there is a little angle between nib and feeder (as it show on photo). Despite of this, the pen write very well (line width, feedback is right for me). Should I send the pen to Montblanc service for feeder align or let it stay as is?

Hi,

Some may disagree with me, but the misalignment seems to be tiny and I can't see that being a problem. But as you bought it new from a Boutique then take it back and ask them to look at it. I would also send MB a message asking the same question (via their website).

If I send it back then i have to wait about 1.5-2 month before I receive it back. That is why I want to understand is it worth to send and wait or there is no problem with this misallign

I think I could live with that.

It's completely up to you, but if it writes and performs well, I'd leave it as it is.

.

Good luck.

If the pen writes well then I would use it and don't look back. Frankly there's no guarantee you'll get the pen back and it will still write as well as it does now!

How does it perform?

This is the important question. If it writes as you'd expect then no need to contact Mb. If there are writting issues then I'd take it back to Mb immediately.

I write with this pen 3 days only and I like how it write. I also incline to stay it with current condition. Thanks for your answers

I think you made the right decision. Pens don't like to be messed with. If it writeswell and you're happy with it, then keep on writing. Enjoy the pen and accept those odd little things that make it unique and give it personality.

"..accept those odd little things that make it unique and give it personality" - yesterday, just this thought has come to me!

I'm glad that everyone seems to agree that it isn't a real issue,

and that is a nice attitude to have. Some people would fret forever about such a thing, and would hate to die still wondering, hence suggesting taking it up with Montblanc. It's a lovely pen and I'm sure it will give you many years of excellent service.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
