Lecai Transparent Fountain Pen

Recommended Posts

Nib & feed look very Pilot 78G/Metro/Kakuno shaped... possibly interchangeable with WingSung Lucky 659 :)

Judging by the pictures it looks more like that in the Jinhao 992.

No, I am not going to list my pens here.

Just received mine ($9.99 from mhestore2009 on ebay). It's very pretty.

Notes:

  • Mine did come with a syringe, with a needle attached--20 gauge, I think? One of the yellow ones.
  • The nib looks identical to the Wing Sung Pilot knockoffs, but it's not the same friction-fit arrangement: the nib unit screws into the section, and the nib and feed wouldn't come out without more force than I was willing to use on a brand new pen.
  • The nib is labeled M.
  • In unscrewing the nib unit, I tore a small O-ring that sat at the bottom of the nib unit. I don't think I exerted undue force; it's just really delicate. So I don't recommend unscrewing the nib unit.
  • Lots of threads on everything--nib unit, section, cap. I think they've put a lot of thought into avoiding leaks.

Photos here.

Thank you so much! Does the nib write like a true medium? Or more like fine or broad? How does the nib write? And.. I also hope you can talk about burping issues (if any) once the ink reaches a low volume :) I'm sorry for all these questions, I guess I'm simply looking for reasons why I do not need this pen XD

Thank you so much for the pictures! Looks lovely owo

I've added a few photos to the album.

The nib is on the fine side of medium.

As for the rest...still figuring it out.

I've been watching ink creep slowly up the inside of the section; we'll see what happens when it hits the top. I don't know how much that has to do with the O-ring I destroyed.

I'm having some flow issues that make my wonder if they did too good a job making the pen airtight, but it's complicated by the fact that I took a cue from the ebay listing and filled it with glitter ink (Diamine Caramel Sparkle). So I think I'm going to have to wait awhile to find out how much is poor flow and how much is glitter clog. Also, the glitter is clinging to the inside of the pen like crazy.

Maybe I'll try using a knockout block but will probably just enjoy the pen as is when it gets here. Thanks for the information!

I got the Lecai yesterday and filled it a fifth full of ink. Even though it's nib is advertised to be 6mm, I find it writes a medium line similar to my Prera and I saw no burping after a page of writing. (I'm not sure if that's an issue with so little ink in the pen and with such little use) Unlike my Prera, I'm happy the nib didn't need any adjustment out of the box and it's also a better reverse writer. I'm not sure what that suggests: better ink flow? Or perhaps I never got my Prera's nib properly adjusted. The plastic used for the casing is of cheaper quality but overall I think the Lecai is decent value $10 USD. (Just remembered that it comes with a needle sharp syringe)

I would surely advice not to use that syringe, its better to just go get a decent lab dropper .. too dangerous having that NEEDLE around. I am in the process of formulating my July purchase list and this pen might made it but I am not sure yet.

I ordered a Lecai from eBay vendor mhestore2009 on July 6, and it arrived today July 12! That's very fast service. I used a pipette to fill the pen with Iroshizuku Ku-Jaku (Peacock) ink and liberally smeared some silicone on the threads where the nib unit enters the barrel. The pen is well balanced when posted and writes a nice line. Im not crazy about the endless number of turns necessary to remove the cap but that is not unlike some Indian eyedroppers I own. All in all a fun pen for $10.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
