Oop. Sold out.. sorry folks :(

Hi Flippy,

It's quite possible the only thing you missed out on was the opportunity of throwing your money away.

I do not want to besmirch the seller through veiled innuendos, but the price is very suspicious... the aquamarine Safari is one of the hotter LE colors and forgeries DO EXIST.

I learned this lesson the hard way when I first got into this game and didn't have a clue yet... unlike now, when I have three or four clues. :D

Don't sweat it... it's probably the best money you never spent. ;) I haven't checked lately, but when I was hunting down this model about 12-14 months ago; legit models were selling for a c-note+. (I paid $75 for the forgery and thought I had got a great deal... fortunately, e-bay got my money back and closed down the seller's account, of course, she probably just started a new one later :glare:).

EDIT, P.S.: I love your location... how is the climate on Mars this time of year?

I usually do not see signatures or locations here, b/c 90% of my life is spent on mobiles. :)

They have made fake safaris. I remember that LE. Almost had that as my second pen...

I bought my aquamarine back in 2011. At the time I was using a shampoo called Aquamarine, so I thought it would be good.

It is one I like.

Hello Flippy, AL01, et al,

I did a YouTube search real quick and discovered this gem; you might find this helpful for future reference...

Ironically, the forged specimen he uses looks just like the one that burned me last year. Unfortunately, some of the "tip-offs" may be difficult to spot in an on-line posting, but this will give you the right questions to ask of the seller the next time you come across an aquamarine Safari. ;)

Good luck and be well. :)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
