I notice this group buy doesn't have the cheaper nib options available. When will the model 8 group buy be available with the indian nibs?

Atleast Six Months Sir.

Just placed an order for Giant Bamboo with extra fine chrome finish nib in solid bluish green polished ebonite. I didn't see an option for a pocket clip. If it's available, I would prefer to have a clip, but no problem if it's not an option. Thank you.

Forma submmited. Round end Zeal with 1.5 golden nib in 20 Teal Blue Orange Ripple

ps. zeal flat end/rounded end picture seems flipped. 1-5 seem rounded and 6-10 are flat but the descriptions are switched.

@jamerelbe, so you finally gave in?

blue teal black ripple? it's a nice option in the regular ebonite

I have a 4c in this colour from one of the first group buys...

for this GB I went for the model 8 again (like it too much), me too, without clip!

this time in premium ebonite, and... I ordered two... :D pink blue and green yellow...

(I am waiting since ages for the white/blue, almost glad it was not available   )

I have a Jowo with special grind (similar to Sailor's Naginata Togi) that needs a good quality pen body. The model 8 appeals to me. Would this group buy with Bock nib work with my Jowo nib?

No Sir. Jowo and Bock are not to each other.

as far as I know #6 Jowo and Bock nibs are the same size, only they have different threaded collars.

I have heard before of the possibility to swap the nibs from one collar to the other, although I have not yet tried myself.

They should be friction fit, so you need to pull out the nib and feed from one collar, do the same with the other one and swop them over...

You will have a spare Bock threaded nib that you may not use (for some time, spare nibs always seem to find a nibless pen sooner or later... :) ) it will not cost you too much, just the cost of the added Bock nib.

That if you feel comfortable enough to try the swop.

Then on the other hand you may also purchase a Jowo threaded model 8 directly from Ranga, it will cost you a bit more than from the group buy but not a huge amount more...and since you are sparing the Bock nib it may cost approx the same.

Ranga will actually sell you a nibless pen (I believe) threaded for Jowo if you ask Mr.Kandan.

It should be worthwhile to be able to use the special grind nib!

Check your options... :D

Can I just check that this group buy is open until July 10? Thanks

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

Gryphon...if you ever have the opportunity, try the Bock Titanium nib. They sell the size #6 Bock Titanium at Karas Kustoms (for their Ink fountain pen) which should be able to be installed in your new Bamboo Demonstrator (a screw in nib). It's a very sweet nib.

Mary

I'll definitely keep that in mind. Thanks for the info!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
