What is that, Turquoise? (I saw photos in another thread.) Probably not. The light blue is nice -- I might get one of those at some point, maybe.

I don't see it listed at Anderson or Goulet yet.

New TWSBI releases usually show up on TWSBI's own web site and on their amazon.com storefront on the day of release. Amazon usually has higher prices and free shipping; twsbi.com starts with lower prices but adds a shipping charge at the end. At the end, twsbi.com is usually a few dollars cheaper. I guess that makes sense since Amazon is surely getting a portion of the money for every sale through amazon.com.

The other retailers seem to take a day or two longer to get new releases.

If you buy TWSBI stuff through amazon.com, it ships directly from TWSBI. No "Fulfilled by Amazon" unprotected packaging that pretty much guarantees the plastic TWSBI presentation box will be cracked or smashed.

I've never had shipping damage with stuff shipped from TWSBI. It's not Goulet-style armageddon-proof packaging, but it's good enough.

I can confirm that the 13th is the release date for the 580AL turquoise. And that TWSBI has started shipping the pens to retailers (I have a tracking number).

Woohoo, only a few more days.

Please visit my store A&D Penworx.

Brands we carry: Benu Pen, Conklin, Kaweco, Monteverde, TWSBI - Diamine, J Herbin, KWZ- Clairefontaine, Field Notes, Rhodia, Whitelines

Thank god, I ordered my pen a while ago but no one could tell me exactly when they would be released. I was fearing that I would have to wait till the END of next week for it to be sent

I've ordered two -- one with fine nib and one with medium -- direct from TWSBI. I'll use one and give one away, but I haven't decided which one to keep.

They should arrive by the weekend. I have a few days to choose an ink. :)

I think I will pick up a stub nib. Something to keep my fine nib mini company. Also thinking I will get a bottle of Diamine Marine, seems like a good match.

Well, it looks like they are hitting the market today! Ordered from the Birmingham Pen Co, they are running a 24 hour special where you get a free bottle of their ink with a pen purchase. So I went with their Point Park Fountain Turquoise.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
