Hi Everyone,

I have inherited a bunch of beautiful pens and I have been spending time trying to learn more about them. I'm looking for guidance in the right direction for details. I love reading about the facts and what to enjoy about each detail of the pen, along with the history.

I attached a picture of one group I have been trying to learn about.

Most of these are Levenger since I have been trying to understand why the black and silver have Levenger printed but then the clip has rOtring? Are these L-tech pens?

Also, the set of 3 larger Levenger don't look like the other regular size Levenger pens. I really like these and I want to know more.

Before I go further, I know I need to post this in another area. Where do I need to post my questions? I have more brands I want to learn about.

I have really enjoyed what I have read so far. I'm looking forward to learning more about my collection.

Welcome home. Pull up a stump and set a spell. Levenger does not make pens but often rebrands pens under the Levenger name.

How wonderful that you have been chosen to cherish these heirlooms ! From whom have you inherited them ?

 

By the types of some of the instruments, I think part of the source was a person, who drew, or was a draftsman. Do some of the pens have a "stylograph" point, rather than a fountain pen nib ? Rotring literally means "rot ring", which translates to "red ring", hence the trademark.

 

The silver instrument might have a "clutch", that opens and closes, when the button is pressed.

If so, it would "clutch" , or grasp, a length of pencil lead, and is not a pen after all.

Levenger offers many good quality pens made for them by different manufacturers. That means your search for answers to your questions may be a bit longer than if they were labeled by a different manufacturer. Don't give up. Try posting your question and pictures in the forum for first fountain pens and dip pens. I wish you very good luck.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
