Sterling Silver Targas

I've always had a fondness for the looks of sterling silver. I would appreciate hearing from those of you who have acquired a sterling silver Targa. Are you please with it? Would it be wise to look only at NOS? What should I expect to pay for one? Anything in particular to be aware of?

For love of it. And yet not waste time either.

I was fortunate to purchase a used one & saw that Teri Morris had an identical one @ Peyton Street Pens in a nib size I preferred; she made it possible for me to trade with her & I will be forever grateful to her for same. Perhaps I was merely lucky to have received one in good condition & she was extremely kind to swap her nib for mine, but I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another used Sterling Targa, if it were offered by a reputable dealer, who would describe it's condition.

I very much enjoy mine & wish you success in finding one!

So, if it wasn't already restored add another $50. And add how much for USA over Pakistan, and how long ago you bought it makes the current US price what? $150-175?

The Targa doesnt need any restoration. What is in it to be restored? It came with the original squeeze converter in working order. I bought it may be in 2014 or 2015. Dont know anything about its current going price, though.

Of course. What was I thinking? I am seeing them for $200, and have been hesitant. I guess rightfully so.

I swap my original squeeze converters for the nice twist action ones. Sadly, I don't have a silver Targa though.

Very nice pens, as close to bullet proof as any design ever.

Yes, the sterling Targas are beautiful and worth the money. Check with Gary Ellison at www.targa.com He's a very reputable dealer and an expert on Targas in general. Good luck in finding one to your liking!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
