Who is planning to attend and where?

I live close to London but since I have been planning a trip to Scotland around the same time I may visit Edinburgh instead. However, I'm tempted to go to Dublin too.

I too have received the email. I would attend either Kabul or my home town Islamabad if in case they hold the event here.

There was a meeting in Kabul last year. It would be great to hear what it was like. I actually wouldn't mind to attend one in the future. Just wonder how easy or hard is to get there. Now I regret skipping Middle East culture and history modules and not studying Persian while at uni.

Any chance of a hub in the Channel Islands? I know we have a member from Jersey here, but not sure if he's a Pelikan fan.

If you want a meeting in Channel Islands, the only way you can be sure to get one is if you sign up and get your friends to sign up as well.

If in doubt, say you will manage the hub so not having a hubmaster won't be a reason you won't get the event.

For those in Manchester area, I have signed up. If once it is confirmed, we can always meet somewhere outside the area that is convenient to all of us.

  • 2 weeks later...

I again registered for the Philadelphia, USA hub which has grown each year so far. The locations in general have really expanded over the years. If the growth continues as it has, I'd anticipate seeing more than a few new hub locations this year as interest continues to spread. I think any location that can reach critical mass is fair game for getting a hub.

I concur, we do need a hub here. However, I'm not holding my breath for something to happen anytime soon.

What does one need to make an official hub meet?

Probably more than two people, separated by a £50, 15 minute flight.

Haha.

Actually, I receive standby tickets with BlueIslands / Flybe that would cost about £15.00 and the flight takes between 8- 13 min 😉

There's a hub in Dublin?

Indeed. Looks like 7 participants are registered to Dublin, Ireland.

It says to register before a certain date. Presumably that is for hub masters, or am I too late to join my local hub?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
