Lamy T10 Cartridges

I bought a Lamy safari 17 matte black pen last week. It came with a converter and a cartridge, and I am currently using the cartridge. Since I observed that the cartridges hold more ink than the Z24 converter, I planned that I will be reusing the cartridge once it runs out of ink. Even I bought a syringe so that I could refill it when needed. But unfortunately, yesterday night I saw the mouth of the cartridge got cracked. I have noticed the same thing for my few other pens, but no cartridge got cracked so quick. Do all cartridges suffer the same fate? I am so disappointed now as my plan for reusing it got ruined.

I have had the same problem with a couple of Lamy cartridges - but not (so far) with standard international cartridges or Pilot cartridges (which are very robust). Unfortunately these won't fit your Lamy pens though :(

I have used Lamy cartridges for years by refilling. I guess you had a bad one. If you are from India, PM me your address and I will post you couple of empty Lamy cartridges for refilling.

I have refilled T10 cartridges two dozen times. They are quite robust.

So, with the crack, does the cartridge still work ? Until ink flow is affected, what's a small crack between fountain pen lovers ? Try it.

Auf freiem Grund mit freiem Volke stehn.
Zum Augenblicke dürft ich sagen:
Verweile doch, du bist so schön !

Will you do this fo free?

Of course for free. I have many empty Lamy cartridges which will be unused and I will post via regular postal service which is rather inexpensive.

Good morning sneeldip and others, My Lamy cartridges often split at the lip exactly as yours did. By the way, Lamy, Parker, and Aurora cartridges are interchangeable. I find that the Parkers & Auroras have stronger cartridge lips than do the Lamy. Like you, I refill cartridges with a syringe.

T10s connection lip tends to crack over time or if you push it too much. If you're going to refill and use a T10, put it into the barrel after filling and screw the pen upright, like you put an unopened cartridge, allowing pen to adjust the connection.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
