Aurora Ipsilon Pen Converter Feels Too Tight

The converter (twist type, piston) of this Aurora pen was a bit tight in its early days. Now, it feels that it has become tighter.

 

When I twist the end to fill up ink, it feels so stiff that I am under a constant apprehension that something might break.

 

(I can compare with my Parker Sonnet, so I know what it means to be tight.)

 

Do you have any tips or suggestion for me?

 

I clean the pen with plain water every six months or some such.

If you can remove the metal ferrule on the knob end of the converter (by unscrewing it), then you could remove the piston and apply a thin coat of silicone grease to the inside wall of the converter with a cotton swab. That would remedy the problem.

 

If you can't, then the easiest fix would be to replace the converter. A Parker converter would work, if it happens to cost you less.

As per verbal advice of another fountain pen enthusiast, I completely dismantled the converter, carried out a shampoo wash followed by several plain water washes, and then soaked the parts in warm water for some minutes. This improved the situation.
