Hi RI,

From what I hear, they are underrated pens, good value for money, so go for it, I would say.

In any case, the guys at FPH will allow you some time at the shop (the whole day if you're so inclined), to try one (or more) out, which is great for determining what kind of nib you like.

Once you've taken a pen home, and if you're not satisfied with it after all, you have a grace period in which you can still exchange it.

FPH: great shop, great service, great people. No affiliation, just a satisfied customer :D.

HTH, warm regards, Wim

Thank you very much Wim for your advice - I really appreciate it!

......well, I will be ordering the pens online, as I am unable to go to their shop (as much as I would like to!!!)

Excellent....now I just have to decide if I want to get the DDP in the Doric Blue and Silver, or the Doric Blue Marble - I'm leaning towards the latter, as I am thinking the silver will get rather fingerprint-y in a short time.....both are gorgeous regardless......

Thanks again and best wishes!

I have the DDP Corinzia. The pen is wonderful. The nib was a great writer to begin. It was a very dependent medium on the M/B side.

I had Richard to grind it to a stub and it is amazing. One of my favorite pens. The only drawback is the lack of a ink window - if you care about it.

Please post pictures and reviews.

Ohh I was thinking of purchasing it in the medium nib.....does that mean it's a little wider than the average medium?

Also, did you get the all solid color or the one that has the silver barrel on it?

Thanks,

It was on the more generous side of M :) I got the solid color.

In fact I found an old picture of it, after I got it back "stubbed" by R. Binder.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
