Take lots of photos so that people can visually inspect your pen. Show us the nib in close-up if possible. And a writing sample.

When a fountain pen writes smoothly until the reservoir is depleted, I call it a good-feeding pen !  If it is "gushing"  ink, suspect an air leak at one of the points of seal, perhaps at pen nipple.

FYI :  585 and 4810 tell nothing of your pen model.  585 means 58.5% gold = 14k nib.  4810 is trademark.  It is the height , in meters, of the mountain called  "Mont Blanc".   :)

(Aint dis fun ?)

Write with joy.

IMG_2747.JPG Here are the pictures.  I mistakenly first took pictures of my Sailor.  That's what I get for having two similar-looking pens.

I always try to write with joy, but now I feel a little ignorant... Thanks for the FYI.  By pen nipple, do you mean where the nib enters the pen?

Where cartridge/converter meets feed.

So if it works with a cartridge without losing ink, it's the converter and I just need to replace that  if not, the pen needs repair?

It's a Meisterstück 144. Lovely pen.
I threw out the cartridge-converter for mine, a 144R, and am happily using cartridges in mine.

May we see a writing sample?

Here you go; pardon my handwriting. Do you mind sharing whose cartridges you've used successfully?
