Ransom bucket...............will soon be no more :bunny01: , in normal folks can not afford $360 a year. :headsmack: It's good others offer for free.

I've only redone a few of my old posts.

Bqck in Busine

Hopefully our friend Peter will revive this thread with his wonderfully pictures uploaded directly to FPN. Yes?????

Back in Business will revive but it will take a little Time

Great! :notworthy1:

Cement gray, reminds me of a flight line after a light night rain, as dawn struggles to break.

Again, so many inks I don't have only have 8 or so DA inks. A couple have been on my to get list for the longest time....then so many more. :crybaby:

Thanks for this much needed guide and comparison. I really like the range of colors available through De Atramentis but the multiple names and packaging can be very hard to navigate. I have learned to restrict myself to "standard range only", which eliminates duplicates, but even then there's a lot of subtle choice within each color group.

I am a regular user of Cement Grey and Fog Grey (I didn't see the latter on this comparison) but have always wondered on the distinction between Mouse Grey and Silver Grey, so good to see them alongside here.

One of my favorite inks is De Atramentis' Umber, which I thought I was taking a real risk in buying as it's so pale, but in my 78G BB it's such a delight to write with! I am have also been using York Brown for a while, a very 1970s cool brown which I can't find any equivalent to (Umber looks like a close match to Ina Ho?). Two that really stand out for me here in the brown range are Auburn and Maron, although with the latter I note that there has been name switch between Maron (now red brown) and Sepia Brown (now Taupe) - but how can you tell if your supplier has new or old stock?

This is the only reference to Auburn that I can find, but I'd love to know more!

Khaki and Apricot are definitely on my radar now too!

Thanks again! I have a feeling I will return to this frequently!

Hmmm, I would also be interested to get a bit more clarity on the distinction between Dark Reseda Green, which I have long found intriguing, and Irish Green, which is a new one for me?

I can find no information on Auburn, including De Atramentis' own website, (I found one other sample here, so it surely does exist) but it looks so lovely!
If anyone has any info it would be appreciated!
A comparison with Maron (as shown here, now called Sepia Brown?!?) would be even better!!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
