I got this pen on ebay for $20.  Smooth hard rubber and in great shape except of course for the discoloration.  I see what it used to look like where the cap covered a little of the barrel.  Nice.  And the nib is a nice writer.  It's an 8668 which I'm very happy with.  One question though, where's the sunburst these are supposed to have?

Ahhh....so you got that one.  I think I was watching it.

If I have my dates and history correct, you have one of the early Dollar pens, but one of the wartime palladium 8xxx nibs.  All of the nibs are interchangeable, so it might be that someone replaced the nib in the '40s.  I've gotten transitional J pens with '50s nibs on them.
