My New Red Striped M800 Arrived Today!

After consulting with this fantastic group I learned of Regina Martini in Germany who happened to have a new red striped M800 in stock at a reasonable price and I ordered it. The pen is as delicious as my older M800 but this post isn't about the pen.

1) Thank you to this group for validating my love of the M800s... apparently I am not alone. Also, thank you to this group for turning me on the Martiniauctions. I would never have known she existed without you.

2) I want to give a serious shout out in behalf of Regina Martini. I don't know if she monitors this board or not but I can fully recommend her. She answers emails quickly, ordering was simple and the pen arrived on Wednesday after being ordered on Monday morning. The pen itself is pristine and new with original Pelikan documents and in original new Pelikan packaging.

Cant wait to get it inked up! :)

I like the black cap finial on this one. I remember when I found mine and was so happy I could have hugged the owner of the store (I'm glad I didn't).

What nib did you get? Enjoy! 👍

This thread revived my interest in the red striped pens, so I pulled out my M800, loaded it with some Diamine Syrah ink and took it to work yesterday. This one was actually my first M800 about six years ago.

Ooh... nice combination... I haven't used that ink before but it looks like a good match for than pen! Not sure I could pull off that color for work though. I mostly use my pens for customer correspondence.

I understand, I am doing relief work in a retail pharmacy, so basically writing down phoned in prescriptions and signing as filled speciality prescription forms for controlled substances, so my writings do not leave the location. I can get by using any color I choose, so vary it up quite a bit

Does the Diamine Syrah stain your pen? Always worried about red inks like that.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
