Show Us Your Desktop Pen Storage!

How do you store your most used pens on your desktop or shelf? I use a very old Levenger's storage box however I'm considering expanding with a Dudek box or simply fumbling thru making my own. I really want to see how other people keep their pens, either accessible desktop or even storage boxes.

What is a Dude box?

I was curious so I did a google search and couldn't find anything...

My avatar is my in-use and commonly used storage. Custom box my dad, brother, and I made. It has a lid not in the photo. :)

Thank-you...I actually looked up Dudek...but left the K off when I posted to FPN...

No worries, I think some other companies populate first when you just search Dudek. I think I originally stumbled on him thru a Pen Addict review, then I saw the Karas aluminum blocks are his design as well. I'm not sure I want to go that route which is why I figured I'd start a thread to see what others I doing.

Very nice, is the lid glass? Does this lay flat or can it be prop'd up, say like displaying a picture frame (like it appears in the avatar?)

It sits on a mini easel sort of thing. We thought about trying to make the lid something which could attach at the back to use as a stand, like picture frames, or making something separate for that purpose, and decided to go simple instead.

The lid is made of the same wood, with magnets in the corners to keep it closed, and finger holes to be able to open it up again. Here are detailed pics:

My original idea was to have it free-standing inside a cube-style shelving thing (just a cube you can use for books or whatever), but I remembered the measurement wrong, and it's slightly too tall to fit now, so I use the easel. (Don't tell my brother. I didn't have the heart to tell him we'd made it too tall.)

I like it. I was considering one idea that had the 'rack' similar your yours. Thank you for sharing!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
