Noodler's Ahab / Lamy Safari Nib & Feed Swap . . .

No idea why anyone would want to do this but whilst waiting for a batch of flapjacks to cook I swapped out my temperamental Ahab nib & feed and slotted in a reliable Lamy EF nib and feed from a Charcoal Safari whose body and section my fingers dislike touching.

So far so good. Nice wet flow, no leaks.

I'll keep you updated of any nonsense if it occurs.

Have fun.

NB the AHAB's feed and nib won't fit into the LAMY section though

Hmmm ... now we have a nib and feed in a pen that has a monster ink supply and can be easily broken down for cleaning. For art work done with a water-proof ink, can see a good use for this pen combo. Especially if you like India inks, sumi, Platinum Carbon Permanent, etc. May have to try this mode out.

Thanks,

Yours,
Randal

From a person's actions, we may infer attitudes, beliefs, --- and values. We do not know these characteristics outright. The human dichotomies of trust and distrust, honor and duplicity, love and hate --- all depend on internal states we cannot directly experience. Isn't this what adds zest to our life?

This may be the most horrific combination I've ever seen. Well done :)

Stay unposted, friends.

I didn't say it was pretty . . . :)

Those of you whose Ahabs exhibit evaporation . . . this may be an answer. No hard start all week and no leaks.

I found you can install a Jinhao feed with a Goulet nib in that left over Al-Star or Safari body. Again this may not be to some people's liking and I'm sure a purest is turning in his sleep and some German engineer somewhere is screaming 'NEIN!' but it works for the rest of us.

My biggest complaint about the Ahab. Thanks!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
