Id These Beautiful Pens

These pens are owned by a famous writer in Hong Kong, and are shown in an exhibition about him. He has a long career and I am just guess these are used any time between the 60's and 70's.

Could you guys ID these pens? I only know #1 which is the ST Dupont.

Hello Martini,

My phone isn't letting me blow up the picture, but #4 looks like it may be a Man 100 by Waterman - they were GREAT pens. :)

#1 is a Sterling Silver Montparnasse S.T. Dupont. I own Montparnasse sets in green Chinese lacquer as well as in burgundy Chinese lacquer. I thought that you might like to know the model.

#4 is a Waterman Rhapsody 200 as Freddy stated.

Number 3 is a customized Waterman Edson. Great pen, this custom version is not inexpensive.

Good for you if you have grabbed one.

D.C. in PA - Always bitin' off more than I can chew.

Thank you! Someday, maybe... :)

They don't make this anymore but there is nicer ver. You can see them in Pilot's japanese site. The current ones looks bigger and the barrel is made of metal (brass IIRC), on the inside.

Yes, I am familiar with the ST Dupont as I have 3 in my collection :) A matching pair in green lacquer and another one in blue lacquer. All of them bought brand new. The nib on one is showing some corrosion where it is meeting the section area. They still write but the ink flow is not the best. It's a very elegant pen.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
