OK here things get weird.  It should be noted I have another Ranga eye dropper (as opposed to c/c version used as an eye dropper), which if any thing lets too much ink through.  I tried your recommendation - no joy.  Tried a number of variations no joy.   Now is the interesting bit.

  • If I remove the nib and put the section under the tap, water flows through in either direction.
  • If I put the section back in, WITHOUT the nib and feed in, and hold the pen with the nib slot downwards, so ink should drop on to the cloth below, nothing flows through the hole.

I'm wondering the hole is slightly too small, but I assume Mr Kandam Snr uses the same drill tool for all pens, so can't see why this would be the reason.

Maybe hole is smaller... but before we go further in that direction ... I would request you to get in touch with MP Kandan

The first impressions are very positive. The pen is waiting for the first ink, so for now I have no opinion on how good is this fountain pen. I will not be the first to express the opinion, Ranga pen is made with high precision. Respect for the outstanding Craftsman. It is hard to believe, it is handmade. The color is unique. I think I would need a colorimeter to determine what color my ebonite pen is exactly :). High quality accessories - nib and converter. Classically beautiful pen. A huge pen - and very good I choose a Broad nib. I'm happy with the shipment. Regards again, Ranga & Co. - M.S. Pandurangan, M.P. KandanPens.

I got my 4c demostrator flat ends last week.

I gave it a good wash and scrub with a brush and washing up liquid, as the clear acrylic was showing some dirt from the manufacture, especially in the threads.

Looks immediately improved, the plastic lost most of the initial yellowish appearance, especially in the matt area.

The clear polished ends look very good in contrast to the frosty body.

I am using it as a CC at the moment as I wanted to try the nib, a Jowo M in chrome which I think looks good on demonstrators.

I will be converting it into ED soon, as the pen's looks gain a lot from the coloured ink content.

here are a few pictures with the cc mounted

The pen is nice to use, just slightly to the size limit for my mid sized hands, but well balanced and comfortable. The M nib is very smooth and flow is perfect.

If there is anything I would like to see in the next Ranga demonstrators is a finer matting/smoothing on the internal parts of the pen which in some places is still a bit coarse (as can be seen especially in the first picture).

All in all however it's a wonderful pen. Thanks Ranga

I already love my black bakul 4C from a previous group buy, so I had a rough idea of what to expect from my second 4C this time around. It's never easy deciding which colours to pick from the Ranga rainbow, but eventually I decided upon the blue-black ripple (or teal ripple as it's more recently being called), asking for a nice and dark rod if possible. I also decided to go for the polished finish for a change (despite being unsure of whether or not I would like it as much as I appreciate the soft feel of the bakul finish).

Today, at long last, my new Ranga 4C has arrived, and has left me completely speechless and spellbound. The dark ebonite matches the black nib, the black ripples sometimes looking dark purple, depending on how the light catches them. A true dark beauty.

I consider myself lucky to own pens as well made as my Rangas, and I hope there will be many more group buys to come to help expand my collection.

I will try taking a photo of my new pen tomorrow, but I'm not sure I'll manage to do the pen much justice...
