I think some people were trying to organise a pen posse somewhere in the greater Toledo area. Alternatively, you are very welcome to join us at the Ann Arbor Pen Posse that is scheduled to meet on Sunday, April 9th, at 2pm. Check out the notice that Rachel has put up for it.

I spoke with a gentleman at the Ohio Pen Show last November who took my email adr and was going to reach-out if they revived the NE Ohio pen club meetings - but thus far I've heard nothing from him. I would be willing to attend and would be willing to make the trip to the Akron area (I'm in an eastern burn of Cleve) for a meet-up. Maybe if some others show some interest in this thread we can start something up??

Someone suggested a Central Ohio Meetup and I have not heard back from him yet. I may have to organize it myself. I'll see what is possible shortly.

From the Western side of Cleveland, I'd be interested in a NE Ohio Club.

We have the "Boston Pen People" on this Saturday. Check out www.BostonPenPeople.org for more information.

See you there!

Also from Northeast Ohio, also interested if we could get a meetup going...

Well - that's at least three of us in NE Ohio - has to be some more around these parts.

By the way I still have and use the Parker Challenger I bought from you in the Wendy's parking lot! It's a wonderful writing little pen.

Might as well count me in as well. I live in Mansfield and I currently go to the meet down in Columbus, but I'm also close enough I could attend one up more northeast too :)

^^^^^^^

So that's 5 - is that enough to start? I'm guessing we can get a few more if we promote on other sites.

Anybody want to take the lead? Anybody ever participate in one of these before?

Thoughts on a venue? Time/Date? I'm guessing a weekend would work best?

Agree that weekend would work best. Saturday, mid-day?

Restaurant, perhaps? Somewhere on the West side - not too far from Willoughby, yet still drivable from Mansfield.

John's Diner in Lakewood, or Big Ed's Main Street Soda Grill in Vermilion? Or someplace right off Interstate 90.

I have three more who have expressed interest on the FPN facebook page, two from the west side and one from Solon. So the near West Side may be best in that regard if our friend from Mansfield is making the trip.

A Restaurant/Diner where we can have a large table (or maybe a little alcove - I've done that at Panera's in the past) would work great. Or maybe a room at a Library? Mid-Day Saturday or Sunday would generally work for my wife and I. Perhaps we need to collect emails and see what works best.

I can drive most any place :) Not really a very early morning person, however. Especially on weekends.

I was thinking a Panera as well. Either large table or place with room to walk around.

Excellent! There's a Panera in Independence off Rockside road off 77 (easy to get to from Mansfield) that may be an option.

How does 1 in the afternoon work?

Is July 8 too soon, or if it is, how about the 22nd?

Merci, et bon journée!

The 8th and 22nd may be tough - we have tickets to the Indians games on those dates. We like to get there early (when the gates open) so an afternoon commitment won't work. The 15th may work. Otherwise It's August as we're traveling at the end July through the first week in Aug - including a stop at the DC Pen Show!!

July 15th or August 12 would likely work for me - of course if everyone else wants to start in July I can miss the first one and catch you all in August.

My schedule is flexible depending on date. Although I am going out of town for family visit during the last week in July then heading to DC Pen show. Mid-July is open based on date.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
