A good friend gave me a very, very small Sheaffer bottle of burgundy ink. When I say small, I really means small!, 12 ml.  The bottle itself is a little larger than a quarter and not as big as a half dollar, and about an inch tall.  Do you know anything about the history of Sheaffer bottles this small?  Were these bottles meant for "travel?"  Were they just meant as "samples?"  What years were they made?  Have you ever seen one?  I have not! Thanks for sharing what you might know, if anything about this. C. S.

Could you show a picture? Maybe with a quarter beside it? I've never heard of mini bottles for Sheaffer's.

I don't keep up with the Sheaffer box's & age of each but I also have a bottle of this Sheaffer ink, King's Gold, in this small size.  The label would indicate it probably came in the Burgundy/Red colored box, with the White Dot on the box.  My larger bottles of "vintage Sheaffer" with same labels, are in such boxes, matching their labels.

Someone here is sure to know the years Sheaffer ink was sold in these boxes.

Do any of you know why they would produce ink in such a small bottle?  C. S.

I'm curious too - I have a 12 ml bottle of Sheaffer Jet Black, never opened. Can't remember where I got it.

It's probably a sample bottle, or an introductory bottle for the colours. "Try this cheap lil bottle, if satisfied buy the big bottle."

The ones I got were packed  in pairs and marked as for calligraphers  Probably the bottles were designed to act as inkwells.  There were several color combinations..

Sheaffer used to provide them as free samples at Pen Shows. I have a couple of them which I received along with the other then typical free items such as free cartridges from Private Reserve and the ever present free issue of Pen World.
