Pif: Creeks By Stypen

Hey,

I shall be giving away four (4) Creeks, or Creeks N' Creeks fountain pens by Stypen, assuming there is sufficient interest.

Here is a thread showing what the pen looks like and a little info on it. I have nothing to do with the original post or the thread--I just found it by searching here at FPN.

The pen is quite small, 4 3/4" capped, and takes small int'l cartridges only. I just looked, and a bag o' carts can be had on Ebay for a couple of bucks or so.

I just now dipped one of these pens in Diamine Earth Brown mixable ink, and found the nib to be a western fine (my estimate) and buttery smooth on Rhodia dot pad paper. Dipped another of the pens in Waterman black with the same result.

The pen looks rather cheap and is emblazoned with a shiny gold-colored imprint "Creeks Quality." Promotional pens, evidently.

But the nib is the thing here--it's a well-performing gold-colored #5 (I believe) steel nib. Appropriate for a beginner who will receive a nicely-writing pen instead of a problem, a tinkerer who might just want to cannibalize the pen for the nib, or you name it. (I'm one of the tinkerers--I have more of these which I am keeping :D ).

All of the above descriptions and results are correct to the best of my knowledge.

The deal:

I'm giving away four of these, one to each of four recipients.

I'm handling the shipping charges.

North America only (USA, Mexico, and Canada).

I'm letting this run until Monday March 20, 2017, Noon central US time (the deadline).

After the deadline, four recipients will be chosen using random.org

Recipients will be announced here in this thread and via private message.

I will send the pens out as quickly as I can after this PIF ends.

After the noon March 20 deadline, pens not spoken for will be given to the first "I'll take it(s)" I receive.

Good luck.

I may not have been much help, but I DID bump your thread up to the top.

These are so cute! Please include me? <3

I am the tarot reading, bookworm, whiskey drinking, witchcraft practicing, old fashioned writing, aunt Beasty in my family and I love it. Tarot readings for sale or trade, especially ink as I've lost all of my pen stuff from a bad burglary last year. And I need penpals! Anyone interested, please PM me!

A great looking pen, so please count me in.

Ink has something in common with both money and manure. It's only useful if it's spread around.

I had one of those in junior high in France but no longer have most of these old pens after I moved to California. Please count me in as there is nostalgia factored in for me.

Thank you!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
