Is ASA Pens intending to remain in business? I've visited its website many times over the past year or so only to find nearly all items listed to be "out of stock".

Dear Sir,

Out of stock situation is because of high demand of our pens and also most get sold off instantly.

We are able to do limited no of pens, as each pen is completely hand crafted, so the supply is less than demand.

However most of our pens are available to pre order.

In case you require any pen for your self, please do PM me here, I will support.

I am sure we are here for a long innings, by God's grace.

Best regards

Subramaniam

I find this post almost offensive in its aggressive tone of question. Asapens does not need such a tone, having provided numerous group buy special deals to members of FPN. And they are also very open and responsive when questions are asked, as you can see from the response from subbu_asapens.

Just my 2 cents, as a satisfied customer through a number of years...

I think this is a little extreme. However, for somebody uninformed how Asa runs, I can see how the assumption can be made from stuff being listed "Out of Stock."

not offensive at all.

typically a retailer who is winding down their business
would get rid of what ever stock they have.

HOWEVER, if their business model is custom order,
it WOULD SAY so.

" out of stock " isn't saying custom order.

I am a great fan of ASA pens and I don't believe it's offensive. I can really understand the frustration expressed by the OP. I have been also frustrated visiting the web site and gone elswhere because of the same expressed. Just my 2 Cents.

I had mix experience, i enquired for jinhao nibs and Mr Subramanyam was kind enough to reply me and sent me my order. Another time enquired about Chelpark Sona, also i wrote to Asa pens many times but no reply.. i assume because of limited or no availability. We really like to get reply from you asa pens...

Dr.Suraj,

Maybe Mr.Subrahmaniam doesn't stock the Chelpark Sona.

Did you see it listed in the ASA website? Either way, he should have replied. Did you contact him on his phone?

One request for asapens , they have beautiful collection of Wality and Airmail pens, but it is also showing out of stock or sold out, as they are selling it and not manufacturing it they should make those available in sufficient quantity. Also it will be greatfull to c Airmail and Wality nibs on their catalogue.

This has been my experience. I too have found it a bit frustrating BUT I did inquire both on ASA website and this forum as related to the GAMA Supreme Rounded Top FP. ASA website states this FP has been "Discontinued". I asked Mr.Subrahmaniam about this FP. He kindly replied and indicated to give him 2 weeks. So I will check back in a week or so to see if they are back in stock. Also try ASA Facebook page. I had to try a few different places but eventually Mr.Subrahmaniam got back to me personally.

I understand the agony.. but his capacity is limited to get a certain amount of pens and mostly all pens are prebooked...

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
