We will most certainly have several meetings within that time frame. We meet almost every weekend.

I'm new to the forum and live in San Francisco. I heard about the SF Pen show, but can someone clue me in to these lunchtime meetings? Many thanks.

Yes there is one this sun June 4th.

https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/323685-pen-posse-wwdc-edition/

The titles for the posts for the SF Pen Posse tend to be interesting.

Most of the meets are held in Millbrae, at Peter's Cafe.

Peter's is a short walk from the Millbrae BART station.

  • After you exit the BART train, do not go up the stairs. Take the exit towards the Caltrain platform.
  • Exit the Caltrain platform, and head West.
  • Peter's Cafe is the building on the left with the turquoise roof, next to the overpass.

Start time is 1pm, and it ends when the last person leaves.

You buy your own lunch.

People tend to break into groups to discuss different topics.

There is usually someone there to do basic pen repairs.

This week Sunny Koh, from Straits Pens in Singapore will be there with a bunch of stuff to sell. Micro-pen show.

Attended my first SF Pen Posse meeting on Sunday. Lots of fun. I got to try out a JoWo 1.1 stub that a member had. I liked it a lot, so last night ordered a clear TWSBI ECO with the 1.1 calligraphy nib that I think is the same as the JoWo that I tried out. Looking forward to receiving and playing with it.

And Sunny was selling quite a few Twisbi-like pens last Sunday too.

I'm wondering if we'll have one this coming Sunday (after WWDC)? Won't Sunny still be in town?

When is the next meet up? I'm wondering if someone can check to make sure I didn't jack up my fountain pen nib when I tried to tune it up since I'm a newbie

This Sunday

I don't include SF when I post Pen Posse announcements. We are the original Pen Posse so I have never really had to distinguish it from others. Besides, looks for the odd announcement titles. The best way to get the most up to date information is to join our closed FaceBook group. Very few of the Pen Posse participate on FPN so almost all of our discussions take place within the closed group.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
