The Birmingham Pen Company

Oranges and Apples

Recommended Posts

I have received two orders from the Birmingham Pen Company and I am very satisfied with them.

When I open the box, I was greeted with a very nice letter with the content list attached behind it with a very unique paper clip.

The packing for the contents are very charming.

I was very pleased with my two orders from them and I look forward to my next order.

Thank you, the Birimingham Pen Company, for the positive experience.

I think you're right.

Mods, if you are ready this, please move it over.

Posted in the wrong subforum - Market Watch perhaps?

I'm in Pittsburgh, Pa. quit a bit since I only live 50 min. north.

My work pen is a Nemosine Fission that writes surprisingly well when compared to my Montblanc 146R.

I'll be checking out their store soon on one of my Burgh expeditions.

If you go, ask about their house brand ink that appears to be available only in the Philippines.

I got about 1/2 dozen of those "rabbit pellets" (ink cartridges) in the box with my Nemosine.

They were black and made the pen run very wet.

After I switched to bottle ink [& converter], the problem went away.

Could that be because the pen was new and needed broken in?

Is that black ink that came with it what you mean?

Very interesting!

It appears they are beta testing inks in another country.

I must get to the bottom of this and report back.

I'll post here my findings and PM you if there is big news.

Thanks for the information.

They actually sold them through the website for a while. I bought the set a while back. Good, but not amazing. I'd probably be willing to resell the set if someone has their heart set on it.

Having been born in Da'Burgh, I am quite familior with the persons & places these inks are named after.

Sure, I'd be interested in the set if you are wanting to part with them.

  • 4 weeks later...

This is exciting stuff. I am glad to see them getting into ink. They have done a great job with their pens. It is exciting to see what they are going to do with ink.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
