Montblanc Poa 2017?

Hi everyone,

I asked in a boutique in London recently, and found out that this year's POA limited edition by Montblanc would be made to honour a 'famous Italian artist, from the 1500s-1700s'. I was told that the 4810 would be mostly green, but wasn't able to get anything more than that I'm afraid.

If the release dates of previous POA pens are anything to go by, then I believe that this pen should be released fairly soon.

Has anyone else heard of any news regarding this pen yet?

Not sure how much we are allowed to post re unreleased MB pens here. I understand no photos. It will be to honor Cardinal Scipione Borghese. The 4810 is green with a yellow gold lattice overlay for both the body and cap. The 888 limited is a white and black granite body, white metal (white gold or silver?) cap. I was told a release date of early April.

Actually it's the other way around. The 888 limited, with its gold overlay on green stone, will have an MSRP of just over $8k USD.

I just saw some pics of the pen... i rather like it. But will have to wait until i hold one...

Last year i passed on Shakespeare (over the top design), Peggy (like it a lot, but too flashy to use EDC), and the great characters didnt do it for me.

This year they have 3 very interesting propositions! Beatles, Saint-exuperi and This cardinal...

I hope MB does the anouncement soon so we can see more and more pictures.

Thank you for the correction. The email I received was not in my native language, so an error on my part.

I saw photos at a Boutique today. The 888 version is beautiful ($8,300 USD); the 4810 version also looks appealing ($2,500 USD).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
