Hi everyone!

I thought it would be cool if all of us stopped and took a picture of our pens and accessories (Paper, notebooks, syringe bulbs, cartridges, ink, etc.)

Please excuse the crappy cellphone photo and my atrocious chicken-scratch handwriting, but here's a photo of what I'm using today at work.

It's a replica of a Parker Duofold Senior that I recently made in yellow acrylic and Ebonite.

I don't have the tooling for cap rings yet, and I still have to get a clip from somewhere, but it's nice to have a Mandarin Yellow Duofold Senior that is neither too expensive nor too delicate to use :D

I don't have many fp, but this is the one I carry in my pocket all the time.

MB 144.

Some say it leaks, but luckily it hasn't happened to me yet!

Well, no time to collect it all now, but here's all but the most recent three pens, as seen by Mr. Hippo, a facebook "celebrity" (with all of 5 fans):

And here's what he had to say for himself:

Hi, everyone, I'm back - almost. Thanks for your expressions of concern! Ever since Liz got her two newest pens, she guards them like a hawk, and I haven't been able to use them on the sly. So I decided to follow her home and snag one of the ones she seems to have abandoned...

People, it's worse than I thought! Liz needs some serious help. All I did was pull out one shiny pen and look what happened! How in the world did she get all this stuff!? And why won't she give me a pen of my own? I'm just a poor little hippo far from home. A nice shiny pen with some green ink, that's all I ask - I mean, this month is InCoWriMo, and I need to write some letters to my family back in Kenya.

Anyway, if you could come help me extricate myself from this mess, and then help me find an addiction counselor for Liz, that would be great. Happy weekend to you all. (PS: We missed National Handwriting Day while I was looking for a way into the secret pen stash, but we don't need a special day to practice, just a fountain pen... And some ink. And paper. Good paper. Like Rhodia.)

 (That would probably be worth a trip to Vegas.)

Regarding your fabulous desk: Isn't it nice when other people have no clue about the value of a thing, so you can pick it up for a reasonable price (or find it at all, since no one else wants it)? :) Love all those little compartments you've got.

Here is my gear. When you realize that you have enough pens to fill two cups, you start to wonder whether or not you are having a healthy life.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
