These pens came with a gold plated steel nib. Does this pen's nib have "14K" or "18K" on the nib?

Is this true?

I used to collect camera lenses. Seldom had a problem with dishonest or incompetent sellers.

Now I have started to collect pens, and the difference is startling. In my (admittedly still limited) experience, a very high proportion of sellers are either crooked or ignorant or both.

Only yesterday a seller advertised an old pen with a broken cap saying the problem was "not at all insurmountable". On questioning he admitted that only an expert with specialist tools could repair the cap, and that it would cost a lot of money. And this was a man who considered himself an honest and knowledgeable pen-seller. Anybody who took him at his word would have found themselves paying way more than the pen was worth in order to fix it.

Another seller, a newbie, advertised a pen as being in excellent condition despite having a nib with one tine completely broken off, which is a fact he claimed to have "overlooked".

On the other hand there are some charities selling super pens for very little money. Caveat Emptor. There are bargains to be had amidst the mole-holes.
