Right. I understand that nib crud is not necessarily related to the clogging issues - I was pointing out some inks can me temperamental: Majestic Blue and clogging, Diamine orange inks and nib crud . That's a nice green, by the way.

FPN has a strong USA bias and it seems that Diamine (and I would pronounce it "mean", not "mine" - maybe it's the Scouse (Liverpool) accent) has only recently become freely available there and are getting more FPN airtime.

Being in UK, Diamine was the obvious brand for building a collection with its huge range and competitive pricing. Some are better than others but much of that is personal taste. One reply comments they aren't as solid or vibrant as Noodler's and in many cases that is true and why I am not so fond of Noodler's - I love subtle colours and lots of shading.

The shading is wonderful in a number of Diamine Inks. I am really into Tyrian Purple, and Safari currently because they shade so well.

To the OP, I think Diamine inks are as ever popular as they have been. I would wager they wouldn't release so many special editions, and then add on to them if there wasn't a demand. But, I think too, they have slowed down releasing new inks into their standard 80ml bottle line compared to what was being seen a few years ago, where a handful of inks at a time were being added. And if the ink is not misbehaving to a great extent, and no new inks are being added to the line as often, there may not be much more to add to what exists already in the forums.

FP Ink Orphanage-Is an ink not working with your pens, not the color you're looking for, is never to see the light of day again?!! If this is you, and the ink is in fine condition otherwise, don't dump it down the sink, or throw it into the trash, send it to me (payment can be negotiated), and I will provide it a nice safe home with love, and a decent meal of paper! It seems to me that their color range continues to expand. I bought diamine orange a month or two ago and find it to be perfect for my needs. Like others, I have largely given up private reserve & Noodlers.

I have a lot of Diamine inks, either as samples or full bottles. I just checked my "by brand" inventory file and I have as many Diamine inks as Noodler's as far as variety (46 of each). Mind, there were some I tried that I didn't like at all Registrar's Blue-Black comes to mind, as does Kelly Green). But that's the case with pretty much *every* brand of ink. And some of my favorite inks are by Diamine: Oxford Blue is one of my favorite blues, Emerald is *definitely* my favorite green, and some of the others (like Tyrian Purple and Classic Red, are inks I would never want to be without).

I find Diamine inks feather. I have seen some of their sheen inks, I might like; now that I have a paper for it.

It cost me E36 for a 100 sheets of a paper that Daimine don't feather on....!!!!!!!

Hum, I'll have to try Green Meadow on that paper. It is the feather champ. Then I can talk.......Yep, there is paper that can handle Daimine Green Meadow. I had already tried that ink on it.

There is a handmade paper journal also, whose paper is good enough to handle Diamine.

But then again I'm a bit AR when it goes on feathering/woolly lines. I even use a Big Honking 1 inch thick Magnifying Glass. Diamine is often more feather than woolly lines.

BEF- Bare Eye Feathering seen while sitting.

NEF- paper held near eye, feathering or woolly line. :(

MagF.....feathering and or woolly line seen under good magnification....No, 10X loupe is a bit too much. If it is slight...get more of that paper and ink. :)

NoMagF- perfect no feathering or woolly line. Stockpile paper and ink....perfect paper is hard to find. :notworthy1:

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

FPN has been online for quite a few years. Diamine inks have been reviewed quite comprehensively, over the years. I think you will find lots to read about. Newer introductions tend to get more attention. Diamine is a solid name. It offers top quality inks. There are other "blacks" that I like better than Diamine, but Diamine Emerald is my favorite green.

I suspect your "assumption" will trigger another round of discussions on Diamine. Much of it will be repetition, but newcomers need to read about it , too. And, I am likely to learn something that I missed last time.

Thanks.

Thanks. :) One learns something new every day. :D

'Dye a Mine' it will be from now on.

I'm using this example for how to pronounce from now on.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Wow, that is a tremendous amount of inks!

If you're talking about inkstainedruth's mention above of 92 inks then I have to say that that is not a lot of ink to have for a denizen of FPN.

Diamine has made some great inks. For the ones i have, the Noodlers tend to be a bit more shade heavy, the Osters sheen, the Iroshizuko are a bit more saturated. Diamine though, if i don't know what paper i have access to, i load up some diamine and don't worry about having any issues.

Yes I am. You certainly are entitled to your opinion. I personally cannot justify having more than 50 bottles of ink at one time.

Plus you have to also remember that a good percentage of those are samples, not full bottles. As far as Diamine in bottles, I have 24 -- which includes two mini bottles (Matador Red and Passion Red), and the Flower Collection set (10 smallish bottles). I have roughly 30 or so bottles of Noodler's inks, including back up bottles of a few of them.

I don't think I've ever had occasion to say the name out loud but I mentally pronounce it as DEE-uh-meen. How they answer the phone when you call the company is, of course, the proper pronunciation; I just haven't been compelled to call - and there's that pesky time difference.

The half dozen or so Diamine inks I have are among my favorites. They're so trouble-free that they don't call attention to themselves, which may account for their somewhat under-the-radar status.

I'm still relatively new to this world - I only have four bottles and a few cartridges -, but even though my Iroshizuku and Waterman may be wetter than my Sherwood Green and Twilight, I really love the later two. Just got the Sherwood and I'm very happy with it; its been inked and re-inked in my two EDC pens all week and it will probably be filled with it once of twice again in one of them. It looks great and the flow is perfect in my F-C Loom.

I have Oxford Blue and Matador in my never ending «to buy» list.

I find Diamine inks feather.

That statement surprised me when I first read it on another thread, and again on this one. :( I have many different Diamine inks that I've written with then checked for feathering through a 15x loupe, and I don't see any feathering. In fact, I've tried using Field Notes to see how much they feather on there and I've found some of them don't.

I suspect it's a combination of pen, paper and ink, and it might also depend on how wet or dry a particular ink is. So I hope all goes well with the new paper. :)

I only can second Chrissy regarding the feathering. I was just working on a pen with an extra broad super wet nib, which laid down a river of ink. I used Diamine Royal Blue and Pelikan 4001 Black for testing and didn't notice any difference in the tendency to feather. I also can't find much difference compared to Waterman inks in this regard. So, I'm more than puzzled how this statement comes about.

Ruth, you need more inks. Dan, I have more inks than Ruth and I don't have to justify them to anyone. Inks bring me great joy.

Oh heck, if we're counting samples. I was an Ink Drop subscriber for years. Didn't use most of the inks, which are neatly stacked in vial holders because…

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
