Montblanc #14 Top Cap

Recommended Posts

Hi to everybody.

I own a Montblanc #14 from my father and unfortunately the top cap is broken. I mean the screw piece that fixes the clip on the main cap, where the Montblanc logo is shown. I have the possibility of purchasing the same piece from a Montblanc #32 which appears to be pretty similar. As I have seen it in a picture (no the real thing) I would very grateful if someone could tell me if the #32 top cap fits the #14 one. You can see the piece in the attached file.post-8654-0-12548200-1487092008_thumb.jpg

Thank you in advance.

Víctor.

Hm, as far as I know there are two sizes of the old pens: the x2 and then x4. The x2s, like the 32 are smaller than the x4s, like your 14. So you might need a 34 top piece to fit on the 14.

But I can check this when I get home as I have both.

The 2 vs 4 is a length issue. The 2 is shorter than the 4. So I think the caps are the same between a 12 and a 14. Not sure between a 12, 22, and 32 though.

The cap top of the 12, 14, 22, 24, 32, 34 are exactly the same size.

Not exactly, my 32 top is a touch smaller than my 14's, but the good news is the threads are the same. So to be clear to OP: you will be able to fit the 32 piece on the 14.

Any top piece from that era should fit. Here is my 32's piece on my montblanc 14. As you can see it's a bit small but fits fine.

Thank you all! Although I have been disappeared quite a lot of time, it is great to remember the sort of kind people you are.

I am purchasing the piece then.

Best regards.

Víctor.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
