""""I believe the collector has been at this for at least five or six year, maybe more."""

Some folks buy Bentleys. Others buy ink. :yikes:

Nice pens too.

I have had a bit of a "rough patch," my water heater could not be replaced until yesterday, meaning several days without SHOWER, last evening as I was feeling betetr after the new installation I broke a previously "crowned" tooth, during a simple supper of soup & baguette, Today brought a long awaited Kingdom Note ink, a recent purchase of an ink I had seen in earlier posts here, in my favored ORANGE color, Arancia by Campo Marzio-Roma; AND THIS!

The Day............. is SURELY "looking up!"

Thank you so very much for sharing your journey with us; I was pleased to see so many treasures that despite being "outside my acquisition," are simply FANTASTIC to see in an individual's collection! I cannot imagine ANYTHING that would have been of greater interest to see; the Vatican, Louvre, Florence's David & all other trips plae in comparison to your allowing us to "tag along" on this visit.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! (This would be like visiting Ms. AmberLea for drinks, Sam Capote for dinner & Saskia Madding for dessert, with Claudi Astoriquiza, White Lotus & Visvimitra, as guest /dinner companions! OR winning a year's exclusive contract for UNLIMITED Atsu Tanaki's services, "all expenses PAID!")

You have MORE than brightened my DAY!

Glad to have made your day better!

Very nice to see, thanks for posting. But this makes me wonder.

If someone collects ink, do they use it?

Because, if so, once the bottle is empty, it would no longer truly belong in an ink collection.

On the other hand, ink was made for writing. If you don't use it, it's just a fluid, like any other fluid.

Seems like a bit of a dilemma.

This is a good question. As I mentioned, they do keep a few copies for archive/trade/use, and if they used up all the ink in a bottle I think the bottle still has significant historical value - the shape, design and labelling on the bottle can be as important as the ink inside.

Nice pens too.

This is an incredibly apt description.

Incredible collection. Turn on subtitles for the YouTube video for added hilarity.

A 10 year old could begin using nothing but this massive collection of ink his entire life, and still not run out, even if he was employed as a writer and lived to be 110! :yikes:

I've seen museums that are not as well organized or displayed. I'm going to come back daily to drool.

I think this collection would keep quite a lot of 10 year olds writing for the rest of their lives. :)

The still photographs are nice to look at. I'll have to wait till later on to watch the video.

I especially like the large bottles in that collection.

This is making me start to lust after ink again. I should not be lusting after ink anymore. I am on the wagon.

This is the wagon I'm trying to stay on. I'm just reminding myself, in case I should come back to this thread and get all motivated to buy more ink.

But I want to try out every ink I see in that huge collection :headsmack: !

Well, that's a very nice wagon. Maybe you should try filling it with ink. :P

That's a beautiful collection. Thank you for sharing those pictures.

I wonder how long it takes to dust all of those bottles and shelves.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
