New Onoto Website Imminent?

I'm confused. I was idly browsing Twitter a few moments ago when I saw a tweet from David Cooper, who left Onoto a couple of years ago to set up Bespoke British Pens. His Twitter ID is @OnotoPen.

He now tweets (2 hours ago) that there will soon be a new Onoto website with new pens for sale.

I doubt that he has returned to Onoto, so is he acting as web agent for them?

Anyone know any more?

Cheers,

David.

I was too tired to add more last night but I meant to say that the pens shown in the Twitter photos are the semi-transparent green, amber, etc., ones that were posted here on FPN some time in 2016. So, it may be old news, though I am curious about both the announcement of an up-coming Onoto website and also that it is David Cooper that is making the announcement.

Cheers,

David.

The posts "the_gasman" refers to from 2016 were actually over a year ago, "Onoto New Designs, 25 January 2016" & indeed was inclusive of photographs of the new Magna models.

Almost three years ago, I diligently tried to purchase an Onoto, & despite reassurances from a gentleman there, that I was to be considered for purchase of the pen I wanted because they had several sources besides the pen being "sold out" on the website. I dutifully trusted this advice until I read a post here about a customer being offered the pen @ a pen show, when she was in fact looking @ another model of pen. She posted about how nice they had been to offer another pen for her consideration & how happy she was with her purchase. I then emailed the gentleman who I had been in contact with @ Onoto & he explained they surely couldn't refer to a wait list, when selling pens @ a pen show.

I thought no more about purchase from the Company, until I saw the post over a year ago & have awaited the inclusion of these new Magna models on the website. Now a year later it would appear that they may be "forthcoming."

I will be interested in seeing the new web site, just as I was last January 2016. The new Magna models shown are as attractive & appealing as they were then.

Hi

I confirm that I have had no connection with Onoto since the end of 2014 and have no idea whether a new website or new models are imminent. Not sure how/if someone else is posting on my old Onoto Twitter account - but it's certainly not me.

I thought I had previously taken down this account so will make sure it disappears this time!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
