Lost Feed - Cross Solo 90's

Hi everyone, hopefully someone here can help me find where I can buy a cross solo feed from the 1990's.

Its the classic black with gold plated trim. It was my first FP and we lost it down a drain a few months back when cleaning it.

Not sure which other pen feed would be a match.

I also would like to get a converter for it and I'm not sure on that either.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Roger

Unless you luck out with someone who has a Solo feed in their parts box, you'll have to buy another pen as a donor. Pilot made the Solo for Cross, so there may be some Pilot pen with a feed that fits, but your best bet is another Solo. All versions (e.g. Solo Classic, Solo Sport, Radiance) use the same section, nib and feed, so you can concentrate on the best price.

The Solo uses Cross' green push-on converter.

Good luck. A Radiance was the first fountain pen I'd bought (around 2003-4) since I was a kid in the early 70's. It's a good pen, and still a mainstay for me.

Tweel,

Thanks so much for the info.

It gives me somewhere to start in regards to the different models that would work.

I did not have a converter for it, so now I know which one to get.

I see the Radiance is very similar to mine.

They are such good workhorses. I was so amazed when I had left my Solo in a drawer for a good 2 years with a cartridge of ink and it still started writing without a hiccup.

I wonder why more modern pens in the same price range don't work like that anymore?

Again thanks for the info.

Roger

You're welcome, and I hope it helps.

Two years? Wow. The inner caps on mine aren't that good.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
