Shiraz - Levenger

It seems Levenger is family company that offers a wide variety of products. Levenger designs many of its products, with approximately 75% of its product line being proprietary. The company describes itself as a champion of Slow Tech. Levenger CEO and co-founder Steve Leveen has aligned the company with the Conscious Capitalism movement. To that end, the company has created an initiative called Partnering for Good, which pays product-based royalties to nonprofit institutions whose missions are connected to reading or learning.

Among other things the company offers a line of fountain pen iks.

Levenger's Shiraz is an interesting ink. Depending on the nib and paper you use it can be named pink, raspberry, dark raspberry, deep wine and so on and so on. Basically it's a fun to use from time to time. The ink is intense, it shades and produces strong sheen.

On some papers (CIAK, surprisingly) feathering can be experienced.

Frankly I'm surprides there's not more of this ink reviews over the net.

Indeed, very nice. The Levenger website doesn't list this color. Goulet, Anderson, and Vanness don't carry this brand that I can tell. Amazon lists this color as "currently unavailable". So this might be unobtanium in the US. Even ebay doesn't list any for sale.

That's too bad. I would so use this color. I don't see a lot of reviews of Levenger inks, and no very little about the brand (a friend of mine in the Pacific Northwest really likes her Levenger Tru-Writers, but didn't like the ink colors (she prefers Chesterfield, the rebranded Diamine inks that Xfountainpens.com used to sell, because the inks she has are more jewel-toned).

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Years ago, when Levenger first came out with these, their inks were made by Private Reserve. PR did the same for Fahrneys. Don't know what the situation is now.

Similar to Pilot Tsutsuji but somewhat darker.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

A couple years ago I received a bottle of this in a set of Levenger Inks I purchased. I'm not a fan of inks that lean pink and haven't used any beyond one fill. Like most Levenger inks, it is very well behaved. Pomegranate is my favorite Levenger ink but unfortunately they've discontinued it.

Thanks for reviewing the Levenger Inks, Vis.

Ruth, if you'll PM me your address, I'll send you the bottle.

Hm... I never bought this one and it looks like an ink I would enjoy. Thank you for sharing it.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).
