Amazon Offering Pelikan Souveran 1000 Gt. Is This Real Or A Copy?

Amazon is offering a Pelikan Souveran 1000 GT. The description is identical to an M1000. Is this a true Pelikan or a copy? I can't find any reference to a "GT" on the Pelikan website. They also offer an 800 GT etc. It's attractive because its approximately $50 less than a M1000. Any help is appreciated.

I have had dealings with "LUXURY BRANDS". They sell Thornton inks. However, there is no reason to assume that "LUXURY TOP BRANDS" is the same company. Anybody know ?

The picture looks real, but you won't be buying a picture. A couple years ago, I paid $520 (shipping included) for my M1000.

Does Amazon offer any guaranty ?

Sorry. Not much help, I guess.

I would agree, GT is probably just to indicate it has gold trim.

Company only has one rating from two weeks ago... not enough for me to go on.

added later: seller is Italian, charges $25 shipping on top of that... end of December Niche Pens UK was beating this deal and I, along with others on FPN, will heartily recommend Niche.

I have seen the GT referenced elsewhere. Always has related to "gold trim." There really aren't many Pelikan copies out there so that is not usually a worry. Still, common sense should prevail and a sellers ratings should help guide the decision. Amazon has pretty good return policies if something does come across as not genuine.

Big help guys. I really appreciate the feedback. Not sure if I can get over the "little voice" telling me to walk away though. I'll keep you posted.

A lot of low priced new Pelikans on ebay come from Italy- there's a black M1000 up for $400 obo, in fact, and a couple green-striped ones for $478.

Didn't I read somewhere that Pelikan made models specially for Italy that were slightly different than German ones? Or maybe the Italians are willing to take a smaller profit.

Since I've had recent dealings with "Luxury Top Brands Accessories", let me just give you an advice: be careful when buying from them. Their operation doesn't seem very serious to me, and I did have troubles.

And yes, that negative review on Amazon is from me, after they sent me tracking information for a package that doesn't exist because they didn't even have the item in stock - as they admitted later.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
