Delike New Moon. Actually wrote it dry yesterday, but I haven't decided whether I'm going to flush & store or give it another go yet.

About 2 days ago, finished my Parker IM pen filled with Parker Quink Black ink. Out of curiosity, I've refilled my pen with Mont Blanc Permanent Black ink. Not as wet as the Quink, but a good ink nonetheless.

These daily journal writing and handwritten report assignment did put my pen and ink to a good use.

Parker Vector (the multicolored one that looks like a Mondrian painting). It had Noodler's Army Green (the reformulated batch from a couple of years ago) and I'm trying to decide if it should be refilled or not (I have too many pens inked up at the moment, but I also really like the color).

Finished my Esterbrook desk pen which had Noodler's Zhivago in it. Refilled from the same sample vial. It's not my favorite ink, but it was all I had in my office at the time.

Today finished my new FP Decimo in red using Diamine Mediterranean Blue, and refilled with Waterman Serenity Blue.

Really like this pen.

I just finished my Wyvern 404 with Raduga purple. I had only just put the Raduga in, because I'd just got it and wanted to test it out. I only gave it one leverfull, and I flushed it straight after I'd finished it, because Raduga doesn't have anti-fungals in it and has a reputation for drying into a hard sticky mess. I'm going to re-ink the Wyvern with my standard Pilot Blue, which is all I keep in my desk drawer at work, and hopefully do a pen review for the forum with it later.

I will also attempt to do an ink review with the Raduga at some point soon. It seemed to suit the Wyvern. My 404 is, from what I hear, a somewhat unusual beast among 404s in that it's a medium stub with a good degree of flex, and it's one of the thirstiest writers I have. The Raduga behaved quite dryly in it, so it was a good match.

I had been interested in Raduga purple for a while, after I saw it discussed in relation to Enzo Ferrari's ink. Having allowed for the points you make about its behaviour, I settled for a J Herbin violet and MB lavender instead.

Finished my Franklin-Christoph Italian Ice 02, and a Merlin 33. They are both being cleaned out right now!

Yeah, I only really wanted to buy it out of curiosity as it's so famous. I don't trust it enough to keep it in any pen of value, or even to fiddle around with flushing it out, excluding it from general rotation, but I'm going to ink up something horrible I was going to sell as part of a junk pen lot and see what happens!

Finished the Parker 45, M nib. Trying to decide if I should refill or flush (Noodler's La Coleur Royale).

Also finished the Pelikan M405 Stresemann, B nib, with diluted Edelstein Amethyst. That pen *will* now get flushed, so I can see what other inks it likes and plays well with.

Finished my mid '70s Parker 45 with a converter full of Noodler's Golden Brown.

Flushed it out and put a Wellsharp from the '30s into the rotation.

Actually finished two this morning during my daily journal entry (I knew they were both getting close to empty).

One was the M405 Striated Blue, EF nib -- it had diluted Edelstein Tanzanite in it (I was too lazy to flush the pen and had just refilled with distilled water; but a second refill diluted the remainder too much to be legible).

The other was an Esterbrook J with a 2048 nib. It had some unknown blue ink left in it, and that got diluted when I went to test the pen. I wish I knew what the ink was -- it was a pretty medium blue and very well behaved. I contacted the seller but he'd gotten it at an estate sale, so had no idea.

Also flushed out the two 51s I bought last weekend, because who know what had been in them -- or for how long. Now trying to decide which to fill first. The Midnight Blue Aerometric is a color I've wanted for a long time (almost as much as Plum, but for some reason was hard to find at a reasonable price -- and for a lot of the recent eBay listings. I couldn't tell from the pictures if they were really Midnight, or actually misidentified Teal Blue). But the Navy Gray (a color I was less interested in) has an OB nib.... :puddle:

Yeah, I know -- you'll all say "fill BOTH of them!" ;) But I've got too many pens inked up as it is at the moment. Maybe if I get one or two more pens emptied out....

Just finished my Carmine Sheaffer Balance Jr. Vac-Fill an hour ago.

It had been inked with MB black, but I flushed it and I'm going to switch to Aurora black once it's had a few days to dry out.

I would say "good choice" except I haven't tried MB black to compare it. Still, good choice. ;)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
