Hey there,

 

Was wondering if there has been or will be any pen shows here in Victoria, BC Canada? I'd love to attend one, but being a poor student, I'm pretty much bound to the island for shows.

There's a pen show in July in Portland that BC pen people often attend.

SF area must have one too.

 

Probably a fountain pen group in BC that meets regularly.

Not aware of any Pen Shows in Victoria or Vancouver, but there has been a one day Northwest Pen Round Up in Portland OR for the last several years. And of course the Vancouver Pen Club meets monthly.

Hey, I live in Victoria! I'd be interested too, but I suspect LA might be our nearest!

Hello fellow Islander! I suppose LA wouldn't be too far, but it's just too bad since we live in such an artistic Capital that we don't have more things like this, but hopefully we will soon!

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy.       I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
