Conid Measurements Of The Grip-Section

Hi!

My first Conid Bulkfiller (the Minimalistica) is in production and I can't wait so have it in my hands!

In my collection are a lot of Montblancs at the moment.

I'm thinking of selling some pens to be able to by a Conid Kingsize.

But from my Montblancs I know that the 149 is a litte bit to big at the grip-section for me.

So I googled a lot but was not able to find the diameter of the Kingsize-grip...

Maybe it is also interesting for some other FPN-Members so I'm asking for some measurements of the diameter in the middle of the grip-section:

Montblanc 144: 9mm

Montblanc 146: 11,5mm

Montblanc 149: 13mm

On google I found the following - please confirm:

Conid Minimalistica: 11mm (I know there is no real grip-section...)

Conid Regular: 10,4mm

Conid Slimline: ?

Conid Kingsize: ?

Thanks,

Chris

I don't have my Minimalistica on me at the moment (I am getting its nib tuned), but from what I remember the section is fatter than the Montblanc 146. I can get back to you with measurements when I get the pen back.

Hi Chris,

Below the section grip specifications for the Conid Bulkfillers

1- Slimline : concave grip , minimal diameter 9.7mm, maximum 10.8mm, concave length 27mm.

2- Minimalistica : conical shaped grip medium diameter 11.2mm , front diameter 10.3mm diameter12.5mm at 20mm from front of section.

3- Regular : concave grip, minimal diameter10.4mm, maximum diameter 11.9mm, concave length 19mm.

4- Kingsize : concave grip ,minimal diameter11.9mm, maximum diameter 12.7mm, concave length 19mm.

FYI :The conical section of a modern MB 149 measures at the middle of the cone 13mm.

Hope this helps !

Best regards,

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
