Thank you, I expect it wasnt worth the $130 I paid for it. But, I fell in love and had to have it.

edit: it is a sickness, but at least I am not suffering from it :P

Maybe a touch high, but with that clarity and a flexible nib, I wouldn't beat yourself up especially if it's in good working condition with a new diaphragm fitted. Enjoy it.

Wow. While I wouldn't want a black Vac, myself, that clarity is pretty amazing. Want to see a writing sample (if that nib really has some flex to it, you may not have overpaid by much... flexing nibs on Parkers are not all that common, as I understand it).

I have not even inked it yet. I am a little worried about killing the clarity... Not really sure what color I want to use. I was thinking one of the classic Akkerman colors. I already have all the colors but black. Including one of the double jewel shadow waves in green. Now I have one of each of the colors and filling out the collection of Vacs.

It's a beautiful pen. You paid what it is worth to you, nothing wrong with that.

Now I nk it up and take it for a good run.

And, we want to see writing samples...please

I think it feels like you over paid because we all know you can get a Vac for a whole lot less than that. However, I think we all also know you could wait a long time before seeing another pen of this quality for less.

You know what to do: Use a quality ink, write with the pen, just don't stick in the drawer full of bay state blue and forget about it for 6 months. I have never had a pen I didn't use, but I have many I seldom use. You need to have an idea of how it writes. Great pen, pro quality picture.

1. You wanted it.

2. You can afford the $130.

3. It gives you joy.

No you didn't. Treat it as a piece of art and admire it. It's lovely and a small price as such.

You never need to fill it, just use it as a dip pen and enjoy the experience :)

What price is too much?

If you are going to (bleep) away $130, at least do it on something that makes you happy.

Give yourself a guilt release. It's not that much money in the overall scheme of things.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
