It's baffling that Montblanc really has nothing in current production designed to carry a 149, much less a Heritage 1914. They have all sorts of beautiful cases, pouches, etc. for smaller pens.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

I will have mine delivered today. However, I do not have a 149. I can try my John Lennon if that helps?

Yes. That would be wonderful. The wider width of John Kennon cap will be comparable to the 149 diameter. Thank you!

Yes, very true. I have read that people use either cigar cases or Florence (?) leather cases for the above purposes but I am not so sure whether I should get them or not.

I'm curious to find out whether these will accommodate 149s.

There is a thread on penexchange.de where an owner reports that the 149 will fit...

Hi,

It is a struggle to fit in large pens. The case would not shut well with 6 chunky pens in the slots. (See image 1, L-R: Miles Davis, William Shakespeare, John Lennon, JFK, Tolstoy and Balzac.

I can fit in the standard sized pens. (See Image 2). Let me know if you have more questions.

Can you clip them in?

I meant can the pens be pushed in more so that the clips hold on to the leather pocket?

It's a wonderful design, and I am sure pricier than most. However its always disappointing MB somehow never realizes we need pen cases for their larger pens

Only if the pen fits in all the way. My boheme clips but 146 does not.

I tried in the boutique and it not even fit for 6 146s (could not close well). Looks it is only designed for slim pens such as 144 etc.

What's wrong with the Siena?

I find it a perfect match for my 149.

I agree with Vlad Soare. It fits perfect.

Only if you want to carry more than 3 pens a time you have to consider other models.

My preferred supplier (no affiliation just a very happy customer):

Same here - identical outcome!

I could not fit my 149's nor LE's in with any confidence

I am always a fan of pen wrap and I have some what called kimono made by cotton or silk from Nakaya. They are big enough for Namiki Emperor or MB 1914. However I still want a pen wrap made by MB. In fact the new MB pen wrap cannot actually wrap the pens . I am a little bit disappointed like some of you because it is too small. As you see although a 149 could be put in the pocket, I think it is designed for smaller pens.

Nice wrap, but not "girly" enough for me, and I'm not sure my Marlene Dietrich will fit in it ... May be the other muses, but not sure ...

I'll stay with my penrolls ...

One pen roll, two pen rolls, three pen rolls ... So many pen rolls ! Do you want one ?

my tiny shop is open and you can have a closer look on my website to see my cotton (and sometimes silk) OOAK penrolls.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
