LG, thank you for the review (and the shout out).

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Actually, I find the color in the handwritten part kind of interesting, suggests something written in the 1800s that has faded over time. Probably too pale for practical use, though.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

The only way to make this ink slightly less boring is giving it extreme wetness. I primed the nib, so wet that it's almost dripping:

It took an age to dry:

Actually I was just trying to use up and get rid of this ink in the pen... To leave a place for week #3's project!

I am good then... my nibs are dripping wet... :puddle:

  • 1 year later...

The color, once it's there, is gorgeous - very refined!

I had a sample of Organics Studio Gregor Mendel which was a lovely hue, but after 24hrs it still wasn't dry!

A usable ink in this color zone would be a lovely thing!

(Hmm, I stopped using Acrylic Noodler's for anything other than same day applications as the inks seemed to evaporate and condense quite rapidly - might be a perfect match!?)

There looks to be a nice grey-green in Noodler's Russian Writers series, but in some images it's Akhmatova, while in others it's Pushkin?!

Bring back Pea Green for sure!

I also had my heart broken by Organics Studio's Willow - such a lovely hue but clogged (with real lumps!) every pen I tried it in !

The description of the ink as "rinse water" but uh, my inky rinses are much brighter and prettier.

~ The images shown in the review by Lgsoltek are highly appreciated.

Faded ink tones are useful in certain aspects of my work, therefore this ink has real appeal.

During field research this is a hue I've seen firsthand, albeit never in tundra.

Looking over the contrast photo, the faded saturation stands out.

As ever, FPN ink reviews are helpful in broadening my limited experience.

  • 2 months later...

I put my sample on the radiator for 3 days. By that time, due to evaporation, it was down to 1/3 of the original volume.

The results when writing were almost the same as the original. The shading was darker but the unshaded areas remained so pale as to be illegible.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
