The Plum 51 Demi Aero, newly refilled and back in rotation for the holidays. I don't normally go all matchy-matchy with pen barrel and ink colors (and in fact tend to try to actively *avoid* doing that) --but De Atramentis Aubergine looks SO good coming out of that medium nib! :happycloud9:

A day similar to any other, my Aerometric blue 51 is on front line duty, backed up by a cap activated 51 pencil in plum for the occasional crossword

Still using the Orange Jr today. Nice clutch of pens Mitto.

Yes, hari, all were NOS when they came to me. But they are no more so. :)

And all have very special nibs on them.

Thank you, hari.

Kahn, would you mind posting a photo of the 51 nibs please?

Yes, will do later after I take picture(s) in good light. It is 2135 hrs now here and was cloudy and foggy all day today with light snowfall.

Very jealous of what you've got, mitto. None of my 51s have anything remotely like exotic nibs (mostly Fs, with a sprinkling of EFs and Ms). I suspect photos will make me even MORE jealous....

Back on topic. Today for me it's a Speedline filler Green Shadow Wave Vac Junior, put back in rotation the end of last week, with De Atramentis Tchaikovsky (Silver Grey).

Hi Mitto,

Can you post pictures of the aero 51 stubs and OB nib along with accompanying writing samples? I'm especially interested in seeing the 51 OB. Thank you!

Some other day I'd have a less ordinary answer, but today it's not the most out of the way Parker: a 51 Demi, medium Octanium nib, Pelikan 4001 black.

Today's Parker was the Plum Demi 51 Aerometric, with De Atramentis Aubergine.

The red color would appropriate and cheer for your style dress these holidays. Please, feel free to choose yours and ask Santa.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
