Having bought and sold numerous pens over the past 6 years, I have distilled it down to this:  The Omas Paragon Ludovico Einaudi....

I also own a TWSBI 580 and a Danitrio Takumi Kur-Keshi (soon to be sold and replaced with a

Conid Bulkfiller).

Great choice! What nib do you have on it?

Oh what discipline. I'm slightly envious that you are able to do that  :)

Hi Matias,

I have a Medium nib, no modifications, although I did smooth it a little. It suits my handwriting.

The Omas is lovely, but a tad heavy for long writing sessions which is why I want to get a Conid Bulkfiller Kingsize in Black as it's lighter. I think the Omas and Conid would complement each other perfectly. Just need to raise some serious spondulicks first !

Another option is a resin OMAS. I have two and they are quite lightweight. OMAS nibs are just something else.

It's been agonising but strangely liberating to distill my pens down.

I'm aiming for a total of 2 (absolute maximum of 4) pens that I will use and enjoy for the long term.

In experimenting with numerous pens, I've come to the conclusion that quality beats quantity, understated elegance is my cup of tea (let the ink do the talking) and large light pens are the most comfortable.

That's the theory anyway :) !

That matte black Vanishing Point looks like it has been shown a lot of love. Gorgeous.
Great collection.

Thank! And yes it has. These pens haven't been out of rotation since they were purchased but the matte black has always been on my side. It has even accompanied me in a 16 week police academy program.

My latest acquisition. A Pilot VP.

This is my first japanese pen, and they´re not joking when they call it a "fine" nib.

I got this pen for notetaking at work, and I´m sure it will be perfect for that task.

Hi Tas

I guess that you might find a japanese EF useful for scetching, but I wouldn´t personally want one as a wriing instrument. It is just too fine for me.

The writing sample in the photo is on a horrible notepad, which makes the line much wider than on paper of a reasonable quality.

The same pen on Rhodia is extremely thin for my taste (I usually writw with a fine or F/M nib). That being said, I also find my fine nibbed Visconti HS to be a bit too narrow. That should give you an idea of my preferences :)

I intentionally chose a nib on the fine side, because I want this one to be practical and lay a dry line for quick notes.

Today I am using a new purchase- a Sheaffer Valiant with a very nice two tone fine/medium nib and metal cap (from parts bin), inked with J. Herbin Bleu Nuit

Decided to do a little handwriting practice, so I've copied the first few paragraphs of "The Call of Cthulhu" by HP Lovecraft, as well as a nice quote by Emerson.

With a cap like this, you may call it Sentinel. I'm sure it won't mind ;)

THIS is a poor purchase?!

Yes, because if I wanted a Parker 51 I should have bought one that I actually like - Cedar Blue, gold cap with chevron band, extra fine nib.  Those kinds of pen never come this way though.  Anyway, the one in the picture will be gone by the end of next week. It's paying for a Bexley, which was also a poor buy (I really should not buy any pens again, ever. I suck at this).
