I've already changed the ink in the Oblo (having used up the cartridge) to a more suitably Oceanic, diamine Aster, which fits the pen and theme far better.

I will also be changing the ink in the Dolcevita. Nice though the red lustre is, it does nothing for the pen, therefore Onyx black will be deployed very soon once I've finished the initial fill.

Thanks Santa ;)

A Very Happy New Year to you all. It's 2017 and today I am using “Lamy 2000” and it comes with BB nib. It is filled with GvFC Hazelnut Brown.

Congrats! The pens couldn't be happier - they found a good home and expert hand.

Never cared for Oblo, but here it's looking so good... And this Captain's tool is no less interesting. Regarding Dolcevita... No matter how many other pens you have, this one will always shine.

Santa has been quite generous, hasn't he? Lovely pen sleeves. Would like to see an F-C 31 writing sample. And - how do you like your Nock case?

Two Soyuz fountain pens...

http://i1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc383/edulpj/IMG_20150430_072743997_zpsxpaupvsk.jpg

Good morning, my friend!

Once upon a time, I had a Soyuz like your green one (mine was grey). Lousy converter and surprisingly smooth fine nib. I also had a Soyuz "flighter" pen - an upmarket model with a "sharknose" semi-hooded nib and blue ink window, a Montblanc knock-off. Its 14K medium-broad was wet and springy, suitable for all kinds of fancy headlines - mostly Gothic ;)

Excellent! Still have to try this Hazelnut Brown - I have a dozen new inks, and no time to use 'em. Enjoy your 2000, you handle it so well!

Practice, patience, perseverance

Tks, Eli !!!

I've been away from FPN for a while, and it's always such a delight to come back! So many awesome pens and penmanship. A feast for the eyes for a pen lover.

Today, I am writing with one of my favorite pens, a Sheaffer Valiant Oversize.

Franklin Christophs come with JoWo #6 nibs +/- Masuyama mods. This one is a standard fine.

The Nock cases are very good.

Here are two favorite pens I used this evening, separated by more than 80 years: a (circa) 1935 Sheaffer OS Balance in Ebonized Pearl, and a 2016 Aurora 88 in matte black resin with rose gold furniture. Both exquisite in the hand, and utter delights to write with!

Today I received my Conid Bulkfiller Cappuccino. I'm ecstatic! It's fantastic! I had a little scare regarding my order originally (of my own making) and wasn't sure I got my order in. Werner was fantastic and helped me thru the final processing. Thank you Werner for your help and thank your team for such a magnificent pen! I have a few new toys and may post some practice reviews in the next few weeks.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
