Ghost Plane

Recommended Posts

Well, I got a Nikolai - although I am usually more into silver, with this pen I prefer the gold/green combination to the silver/green.

It's a full set with M nib, never used.

Very nice Axis. I have the 144 size - a great pen. Look forward to hearing from you tomorrow.... :)

As if the lovely Czar Nikolai I wasn't lovely enough, Octavian!

Again, thank you very much for the images.

Never used! That's simply terrific!

By all means, enjoy!

Ohhhhhhhhh!

Ghost Plane, Do you want to borrow a 1960s MB149 OBB I just found? I need to work on ink flow.

Hard times don't last, but hard people do.

Thank a Veteran.

Zaddick can have my turn. I'm swamped at the moment and couldn't give it the thorough fondling, er, testing it deserves. But love you for thinking of me and keep me in mind for future test runs. *smooch*

I have it as well, it's a great pen to use due to size and handling!

Enjoy it!

Platinum 149 OBBB arrived today. Photos later.

thanks, Tom K! it is a proof that "who dares, wins"

I had a similar hit a few month ago, when purchased Boheme Doue Platinum for circa 120 EUR (cap need some intervention- level 1 service, I assume; a good bargain, still!).

Sure i will enjoy, tomorrow is my first working day-probably, I will ink new "baby" with MB Burgundy Red, or Pilot's Yama Budo...

Just received my Le Grande 90th Anniversary edition in B nib.

Just tested it and it writes almost like a 1.1 stub i think.

Which ink colors will go well with this pen - opinions?

Thank you for the excellent pen photo. Details of the B nib are clear.

The more that I look at your photo, the more that I like it.

As it happens, my only Montblanc LeGrand is exactly like yours — a 90th Anniversary B nib.

I've used various shades of dark blue, but I'm not much of an ink expert.

There are others — Pravda and Ghost Plane come to mind — who are richly experienced in matching quality inks to fine pens.

Again, much appreciation for the fine image.

What color families do you prefer? And brand preferences? Such a glorious nib, I suspect you'll want something with killer shading.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
