Posting on an Android puts apostrophes where they don't belong. Android is much more in tune with current writing culture.

I'm actually waiting for a Free Charlie that goes with a bottle of Kung-Te-Cheng.

 

...got a sample of that ink loaded in another ebonite feed-eyedropper and it was love at first write... hasn't let me down since either.

 

Got an ASA Maya 3-in-1 on the way also... hmm hmm hmm... ebonite : )

Now I'm waiting for 'everything else'! The last three months of purchases I've made from the UK are all coming over from my Mum with her Christmas presents for the kids (I hope she's securely wrapped the vintage Skrip and Watermans reds...!). I can't even remember everything, so it's going to be a lovely little package.

 

I do know there are about seven coloured Osmiroid 65s (I have about seven black ones so I thought I'd replace them so I have some chance of remembering what ink and nibs I've put in them!) - all the old torpedo pattern and in need of some TLC. One says 'Property of ES Perry' on it, so I can only assume it's some kind of demonstration or sales model. There are also an NOS Osmiroid Music nib (the old, three-tined version) which I'm really looking forward to, and an NOS Mari 2 nib (I've recently discovered Mari nibs, and love the only one I have, which is a 4). There's another MacNiven and Cameron in beautiful condition, and a boxed, pristine Kenrick and Jefferson... after that, I don't remember!

I have been bad again. But it's not my fault. Society, particularly this here FPN society, is to blame.

 

Yesterday I ordered the Fritz Schimpf Montblanc special 146 with platinum trim and a custom italic nib that MB made just for them. After seeing the writing samples, I just couldn't resist.

Nothing exotic, just a pair of J. Herbin refillable rollerballs. I got intrigued by the idea of using my favorite ink in them. They should be here this week, so I'm looking forward to playing with them.

Great little pens! I carry one to work every day just for NCR forms. I use Noodler's Red Black in it and I also have one with Yama-budo.

 

One thing to keep in mind, they're hard to flush once an ink has settled in. I discovered that if I didn't like how an ink looked, I could take out the cart, fill it with plain water and set it point down on a damp paper towel and let it pull the water through and that would clean it out; has to be done right away, though, before the ink coats the fins in the feed. Using a converter to push/pull water through it just coats the inside of the section with ink. Fortunately, they're relatively cheap, if you need to start over with a new one. Also, I feel darker inks work better due to the relatively fine and not overly-wet line it lays down.

 

ETA: Also, be careful when unscrewing the barrel because the little silver ring isn't glued on and can easily fall off and get lost.

I bought two mostly so I could run my favorite purple ink (J. Herbin Violette Pensee) in one and a basic black ink (J. Herbin Perle Noire) in the other without having to worry about cleaning in between. If I didn't like the ink, I would definitely have tried to flush the pen with a converter, so it's good to know that won't work very well. Thanks for the tip!

Well, I'm not expecting it for a few weeks, but I have managed to track down a Pilot Decimo with an EF in the color I wanted (Grey) thanks to Martin Ferguson. It will take a couple of weeks at least for the pen to get to him, and then I pay him and he sends the pen on my way.

No discounts, like I would have gotten ordering it directly from Japan myself, but I couldn't tell which eBay vendors were good. This way, I'm getting what I want from a reputable dealer.

Now all I need is to have my husband figure out what he's done with the VP (with an F nib) I bought used and and gave him. After all -- the whole point of this exercise was to not only get a pen in a size better for me; it's ALSO to get the nib my husband would prefer....
